Article Planning Sheet - Stressed? Breathe, Relax And Read On...

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
This article will be written as a serious expose in order to convey the type of article this is; the content will focus on stress, preventing it and further/ long term damage it could have on you.
Additionally, the purpose of the article is to provide information and advice for any stressed out audience members, which will help them reduce stress, find out more about what stress can do the body and long term effects of what this may do to you. Additionally, as this is aimed at young adults (who may be in college or University) these are the people that would most likely take benefit from this article the most.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
For this article I will be using a second person narrative voice, I have chosen this in order to be able to interact with the audience and speak to them in a direct manner. Furthermore, by writing in this narrative, it will make the audience feel more comfortable and at ease (relating to the “becoming less stressed” topic of the article and DPS; using words such as “you” and “we” will cause a kind of social interaction with the audience, as well as implying similarities between myself and the reader.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
I have chosen to write this article in a slightly formal register (appealing to the seriousness of the article) although including some colloquialisms and conversational language, causing the audience to find similarities between the article and themselves. Additionally, this particular register will also easily appeal to the target audience, as they are all young adults who speak in similar register.
No taboo words are included in this article as I feel that it wouldn’t link to the article content very well and may neglect some audience members.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
I have tried to use many stylistics in my article headers (as these will attract the audiences attention first and will give a good summary of what each paragraph is about) For example, one of my headers is “Don’t Be A Stress Head!” This works well towards my young target audience as they will be familiar with the phrase “stress head”. Also, as this is an imperative, it will act as an instruction to the audience by strictly using the word “Don’t”
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
My tone of address will use comedic aspects to interact with the audiences interests; although, as this is a serious expose article, most of the language used will be set in formal, light hearted tone of address.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
The structure of this article is set into 3 columns per page, with the content provided in to ordered paragraphs; each topic will separated into its own paragraph making it easier and clearer for the audience to read and understand. Additionally, each paragraph contains a header, providing the audience with a brief summary of what the article is going to talk about.
