Article 1 - Your Festival survival guide

Hygiene hell!
Ensure you take wet wipes/ baby wipes as these will be a lifesaver at some point during your trip after not showering for a few days. They will keep you feeling fresh on the hot days and clean - ish all weekend whilst on the go...Top Tip! They can also be used in the “charming” camping toilets to help you feel EXTRA fresh - you’re going to need it.

Staying snug
As the busy fun filled days each draw to a close, the heat isn’t going to last all day! Which means you’re going to want something warm to go back to and at early hours of the morning a sleeping bag is going to be your best friend. Top Tip! Take a sleeping mat or an airbed to sleep on so you’re comfortable.

Go mini
Avoid packing large items, instead try to pack travel toiletry items to fit into your bag, which are also WAY lighter to carry. Ensure you pack essential equipment such as tissues and sanitizer to stay fresh throughout your weekend - these will definitely come in handy when going to the toilet p.s blocking your nose won’t help. Top Tip! This will make more space in your bag for other equipment you are planning on taking.

Home sweet home...Kind of
A tent is an obvious essential for camping, although you need to think about the weather conditions you’re going to endure whilst at the festival; make sure you test your tent before you go to check there’s no way of rain getting in...A wet tent is not fun. A pop up tent is usually more convenient but definitely not the most reliable. Top Tip! tent strings are pulled, broken and usually tripped over by drunks late at night, so make sure you keep sticking them back into the ground...You’ll be surprised what people steal.

Say cheese!
When you arrive home after your fun filled Festival weekend, you’ll want some memories to bring back with you, right? Well, you can’t go to a Music Festival without your camera! Every out door Festival lets you take pictures, but if you’re worried about losing an expensive camera, why not purchase a disposable one? They won’t require a lot of looking after and wont brake!
Top Tip! Particular festivals don’t actually allow you to capture photos with the flash on the camera when a band is playing, so be careful.

Appropriate footwear
Wellies are definite must at a Festival! You must think about the weather before you go as the rain will quickly transform the fields into a mud filled nightmare! At this time, your wellies will save the day and make it much easier to treck through the mud all day...Remember; you’re going to be walking miles every day. Top Tip! Ensure you bring knee high socks to wear with your wellies as the wellies will often rub against your legs and leave you feeling very sore!

Minimise your valuables!
You don’t always want to be checking that you have all of your money, phone, camera etc when you’re trying to have a good time, right? So minimise the amount of valuables you’re going to take with you! Remember, don’t take anything you’re willing to lose. However, the few valuables you are going to take should be kept in a bag or pocket WITH A ZIP! With the mass amount of crowds you will be in, it is unfortunately easy not to realise someone is dipping their hand in your bag and taking something.
Top Tip! Always keep your valuables on you so there is less chance of them being stolen!

Festival fashion
We know that all the girls will be dying to dress in all of their brand new clothes they bought especially for the summer, but be realistic; a Festival is not the place for new expensive clothes that are most likely going to get dirty or destroyed. Similarly, you must consider the weather! You are going to be outside for most of your stay so ensure you provide clothing for all seasons that you aren’t afraid to get a little muddy every now and then. Top Tip! Cute shorts and a crop top aren’t going to help you survive the cold nights, so take some jumpers and a coat for when you are up at early hours of the morning.

Meeting point
The festival grounds will usually be set over 5 - 6 fields filled with mass crowds and all different types of stages which makes it too easy to get lost. To make it easier for yourself and your friends, organise a meeting point in case you get separated from each other...Also, get to know your surroundings; pick out some unique landmarks or objects that are near your tent to make it easier to find your way back. Top Tip! Always have a phone on you that is switched on! This will be the easiest and sometimes only way to keep in touch with people if you are separated from them.
